Good Evening Solar Car Team,

Let me extend my best wishes to all the teams for their great efforts preparing for the 2026 Solar Car Challenge.

As you prepare for this summer's "Cross-Texas Driving Adventure," let me encourage you to focus on two strategy issues:

• Teams should develop a thorough understanding of the road ahead through the use of topographic map software. You need to know what hills are ahead; you need to strategize which hills you are going to drive, and which hills you are going to trailer over.
• Teams must practice safely loading and unloading their solar car from the trailer. This includes proper safety procedures by the Team's Safety Officer (student setting up orange cones and orange flag-waving, etc.). These skills will be evaluated at Station Six during Scrutineering. A special award will be provided to teams demonstrating trailering competence. I am providing a 3.9 Rule Clarification to help you prepare for the race. This rule provides that the Race will award teams up to 25 "Forever Miles" as reward for attention to detail, timeliness, and completeness.
